what if it was someone you loved?

Cardiac arrest doesn't wait for an ambulance. It can happen at home, at work, at the gym, on the high street or while watching football with friends. When it does, the people standing nearby become the most important people in the world.

Most aren't doctors.
Most aren't paramedics.

They're ordinary people who simply know what to do.

At FreeCPR.co.uk, my mission is to give as many people as possible the knowledge and confidence to become one of those people.

Because the life you save could belong to someone you love!

About FreeCPR

Why Was It Started?

Why Was It Started?

Why Was It Started?

Every year, thousands of people in the UK suffer a sudden cardiac arrest. The actions taken in the first few minutes can make the difference between life and death.

Early recognition, high-quality CPR and the use of a defibrillator dramatically increase the chance of survival, yet many people have never been shown what to do.

We believe that shouldn't be the case.

FreeCPR.co.uk was created with one simple aim:

To give as many people as possible the confidence and knowledge to save a life.

By providing free Basic Life Support training, we're helping to build communities where more people are prepared to act when every second counts.

About Me

Why Was It Started?

Why Was It Started?

My name is Chris and I've spent more than 24 years working on the frontline of the NHS, both in the ambulance service and primary care settings, responding to medical emergencies across the South West.

During my career I've worked as an Ambulance Technician, a Paramedic, a mentor supporting newly qualified clinicians, and as an Operations Officer responsible for managing ambulance resources and major incidents.

Alongside my operational career I've spent nearly two decades delivering professional medical training to businesses, healthcare organisations and members of the public.

Throughout that time I've attended countless cardiac arrests. I've seen the difference that immediate CPR can make, and I've also seen the heartbreaking occasions where nobody nearby knew what to do.

That's why I created FreeCPR.co.uk.

My aim isn't simply to teach CPR—it's to help create communities where people feel confident enough to step forward and act.

How It Works?

Why Was It Started?

How It Works?

Our free courses are exactly that—free!

There are no hidden costs, no catch and absolutely no obligation to make a donation.

The project is made possible through three things:

  • Income generated by the professional first aid training delivered through TheParamedic.co.uk
  • The generosity of businesses, community organisations and local sponsors who help provide venues and support local courses
  • Voluntary donations from people attending our free courses who wish to help someone else receive the same training in the future

Every commercial course delivered and every voluntary donation helps us train more people for free.

It's a simple idea:

Professional training helps fund community training.

The more support we receive, the more communities we can reach, and the more people will have the confidence to save a life.

What's on offer?

Basic Life Support Course - 3hrs

Our 3-hour Basic Life Support (BLS) course gives you the practical skills and confidence to respond to a life-threatening emergency.

You'll learn how to assess a patient who has collapsed, recognise cardiac arrest, perform effective CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and manage a patient until professional help arrives. The course also covers choking, recovery position and control of critical bleeding.

The course is practical, straightforward and suitable for everyone, with no previous first aid experience required.

Learn the skills. Build the confidence. Save a life.

Can you help by becoming a Community Partner?

We're always looking for individuals and organisations that share our vision.

Whether you're a business willing to sponsor a local course, a community group able to provide a venue, or someone who simply wants to support the project, we'd love to hear from you.

Together, we can build communities where life-saving skills are available to everyone—not just a few.
